    Just as a warning, if you buy this book as a present for someone that is compassionate/genuine animal lover then this isn’t the right choice. Monty’s opinions on fox hunting or the inhumane killing of rats with dogs anecdotes will not be appreciated by my Mum as a present so I regret buying it. I’ve only got so far with it and am enjoying other chapters of this book so will continue to read but then donate to a charity shop as I know it would put my Mum off Monty Don! It is a shame, he should have left those ugly paragraphs out of the book.

After reading the blurb on the back of montys new book I was shocked and saddened to read of his excitement of fox hunting , and the outdated excuses he uses for its justification. It’s a depraved pastime, no excuses. Cant see him in the same light now, book in the recycling. If you love nature, dont waste your money.
